Schneck Medical Center has always been in constant pursuit of healthcare excellence. In the last 100 years, Schneck Medical Center have evolved from a 17-bed hospital to one of the most respected health institutions in the nation. Their staff of more than 850 employees, 125 volunteers, and nearly 200 physicians serves residents of Seymour, IN and four surrounding counties.

Schneck Medical Center President and CEO Gary Meyer says the hospital first implemented the Baldrige framework to accelerate performance improvement. At the forefront of Schneck’s commitment to excellence is the Patient First Culture. This initiative has resulted in numerous advances in clinical outcomes, patient safety enhancements, and organizational and customer service improvements. Since the implementation of the Baldrige Criteria, patient satisfaction surveys meet or exceed top 10% or top 25% levels on 9 of 10 Press Ganey measures.

Specifically, the 93-bed not-for-profit hospital in Seymour, Indiana, was recognized for:
Top performance across patient satisfaction measures;

  • Excellence in measures of cash flow, cash position, and operating margins, as well as recent revenue growth in women's health, joint replacement, noninvasive cardiac care, cancer care, and bariatric surgery
  • Commitment to staff and workforce improvement, which decreased staff turnover by 26% from 2007 to 2011.

The Charleston Area Medical Center or CAMC serves the great Charleston WV area. CAMC is a 900 bed patient care network with over 7,000 people working for companies within the CAMC Health System. CAMC has a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Level 1 pediatric intensive care unit.

CAMC has been recognized as the top quality hospital in the country by Harvard researchers. In January 2014, CAMC received recognition for clinical excellence from Healthgrades. This recognition places CAMC in the top 5% of hospitals for clinical care, and it is the only hospital in West Virginia to receive this recognition. U.S. News Best Hospitals recognized CAMC in 2014 as high performing in 8 adult specialties: cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and pulmonology. In September 2014, CAMC was awarded the 2014 TPE Platinum Award for Excellence, the only hospital in West Virginia to have received this recognition.

Riverside Methodist Hospital-Ohio Health is a 765-bed general medical and surgical facility with over 44,000 admissions each year. The neurological and spine treatment programs at Riverside Methodist Hospital are among the largest in the United States. The programs feature innovative treatments for traumatic brain injury and stroke.


The Baldrige Criteria - Achieves Results
